My practice is concerned with the notion of binding girlhood explored by means of
image making . I draw on memories of my childhood summers spent in Northern India and
suburban New Jersey to create a folly-like environments within an imagined realm. As an artist working primarily with drawing and painting, I am drawn to the often contradictory world of adolescent girlhood; a palpable saccharinity paired with an underlying sense of violence. The female figure is a central
subject of my work allowing me to relate the paintings to myself in some manner, yet also serving as
reminders of the metamorphosis of womanhood and fleetingness of youth.
